It seems that tyres need to have the right pressure as our body.
- Tyres have a longer lifespan; provide greater safety and economy if the correct pressure is maintained when operating.
- Tyres naturally lose pressure through the impregnation process. Changes in ambient temperature are likely to affect the rate at which tyres lose air. This change is most noticeable at high ambient temperatures.
- It is recommended to inspect/correct the pressure once a month and before traveling, as well as the presence of the valve cover to prevent the accumulation of moisture and dirt.
- The tyres should be checked when they are cold (before they have travelled 1.5 km), because the increase in pressure is normal when driving.
- Low pressure leads to a problematic behaviour of the vehicle while driving and the tyre overheats.
- High pressure reduces the tyre surface contact with the road surface which is important for the vehicle behaviour, the comfort of the passengers and makes the tyre more sensitive to collisions on its sides.
- Proper air pressure is specified by vehicle manufacturers and may be different for the front and rear tyres.
- The recommended air pressure is indicated on a sticker on the door pillar or near the fuel cap or in the front compartment of the vehicle.
