Regular road worthiness test of LPG vehicles
During the regular road worthiness test of a vehicle being powered by liquid gas (LPG), the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center in charge of the roadworthiness test ought to ask the competent Transport and Communications Service of the Region or the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center, in which the initial road worthiness test to approve the conversion was carried out, for a copy of the initial declaration of honor of vehicle conversion by the technician doing the installation.
If the initial declaration of honor mentioned above cannot be found, the applicant submits a declaration of honor stating good function signed by the certified LPG system technician who performed the roadworthiness test and dating back not longer than a month away from the date the vehicle is brought for its regular roadworthiness test.
In the case of the replacement of one of the three main accessories of the system, i.e. of the tank, of the carburetor or of the pressure reducer, if there is one, or of the electronic control unit, a new roadworthiness test of the conversion approval is to be carried out. In this case, issuing a new vehicle registration by the competent Transport and Communications Service of the Region is not required. A declaration of honor by the LPG installer is submitted.
We should point out that the system conversion date by the technician in charge should coincide with the receipt or invoice for the supplied services date of issue for the uninstallation of the LPG system.
Registering cars imported to the country as second hand and powered also by fuel LPG (with a corresponding indication on the customs certificate), as long as type-approval has been issued or the fact that the fuel used is LPG is implied by the foreign vehicle registration. In that case and before carrying out the provided road worthiness test, a declaration of honor by the LPG installer is issued. This declaration will indicate the manufacturing plant, the type of factory and the vehicle chassis number in the place of the vehicle registration number. In the case the installed accessories are not notified by our Service, the technician in charge will indicate the data of each accessory (e.g. factory-type) if there are any. The vehicle is then brought to the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center for its road worthiness test. The Motor Vehicle Inspection Center issues a Roadworthiness Card with the remark: ‘Bearing an LPG device according to attached declaration of honor’ attaching and validating the above declaration of honor which is a necessary document for registering the vehicle.
Before the first regular roadworthiness test the owner of the vehicle will provide the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center with a certificate by the official vehicle importer indicating the accessories of the LPG system installed to the vehicle as well as their approval numbers. The Motor Vehicle Inspection Center will provide a copy of the above certificate to the applicant who in his or he turn should submit it to the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center at any following regular roadworthiness test.
