SPECIAL LPG UNINSTALLATION APPROVAL TEST

After uninstalling the LPG system from the vehicle, i.e. the devices and accessories enabling it to be powered also by LPG a “special” road worthiness test is carried out by Motor Vehicle Inspection Center for the approval of the conversion. The date mentioned on the declaration of honor form by the LPG installer is considered as the date the uninstallation took place.

In the case of a vehicle brought to be tested after a month from its uninstallation date, the competent Transport and Communications Service of the Region is notified on the same day, as this is a change of vehicle main characteristics and should be declared within a month. The aim of this test is to ensure that the conversion which took place restored the vehicle to its previous state. 

NECESSARY DOCUMENTS

• Application

  for a special conversion test, vehicle registration, ID or driver’s license, Valid Motor Vehicle Inspection Center Card if vehicle subject to this, Declaration of honor by the LPG Installer.

  We should point out that the date of the conversion of the vehicle by the technician in charge should coincide with the date the LPG system uninstallation receipt or invoice for the services provided were issued.

• Original receipt or invoice

  of sale of materials and original receipt or invoice of service provision with the indication of VRN (Vehicle Registration Number) for the uninstallation of LPG system.

• A validated photocopy

  of the foreing statement of compliance, a validated photocopy of its translation and an installation design in the case of a vehicle with a catalytic converter.

During the special road worthiness test for a converted vehicle in which a LPG system has been installed Motor Vehicle Inspection Center carries out the following tests:

• It is tested

  if the necessary for an LPG system component parts have been installed, if the components used are approved and bear the LPG accessory stamp as well as if every fuel container bears on it a statutory plate with specific clearly legible and indelible data.

• It is also tested

  if the systems, devices and accessories intended for retrofitting vehicles into vehicles powered by LPG have been put forward by the Vehicle Technology Office, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks.

• Visual checks

  are carried out in all the installation elements.

• Vehicle exhaust gas test

  is carried out in accordance with the regulations applied during the regular roadworthiness test.

If no deviations from the demands of these tests, a conversion approval report is issued in three copies, one for the vehicle owner, one for the Competent Transport and Communications Service which in its turn will issue the new vehicle registration and one for the files of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center.

The Motor Vehicle Inspection Center carrying out the special road worthiness test of the conversion of the vehicle due to LPG system installation sends the competent Transport and Communications Service of the Region:

The conversion approval report.

The declaration of honor according to the provisions of article 8 of Act 1599/1986 by the technician in charge of the conversion of the vehicle.

The competent Transport and Communications Service of the Region issues a new vehicle registration with the indication: Fuel in use is also LPG.
